WHAT HELD ME BACK FROM MAKING SOCIAL MEDIA FRIENDS
Long story short.... myself.
I started blogging about 4 years ago. I don't have much to show for it, because I was too afraid to put myself out there. I shared my blog on Facebook with my close friends, but that was about it. I started sharing my pictures on Instagram, but only had a few immediate friends that followed me.
Life got busy, my blog fell by the wayside, and I was feeling unmotivated because I wasn't receiving much feedback.
Flash forward to this summer.
Blake and I moved 5 hours South East to Pittsburgh from Detroit. It was a big decision. It was an exciting decision, and at times it was a lonely decision. So, I decided I would give the blog a try again. I bought my domain name, I reopened twitter, and I started following others who had the same interests as I do.
I researched some different blogs, asked people questions, and started following anyone that I had even the slightest interest in. Oh, you like dogs? Me too! FOLLOW!
I spent A LOT of time in the past wondering ... "will this chick think I'm totally weird if I like her picture but I don't know her at all?" "This person's gonna think I'm a total stalker for following them when I don't even live in the same country."
But then something amazing happened...
People were following me. Not many haha, but some! And I was engaging in conversations with them. I felt honored when people followed me, liked my picture, or even commented on something of mine!!! I had built up this crazy idea that no one in the world would like me ... but WHY?!?!!?
Maybe it's the scars from high school, where you asked that one girl to be your friend and she was a total bitch and blew you off... which is fine, because you're way cooler and stronger now because of that happening to you.
I need to give a MAJOR shout out to The Girl Gang on twitter. It connected me to wonderful women I would have never found, and although now all my friends seem to live in the UK, I have had such an amazing time getting to know so many new people! Go check out The Girl Gang if you get a chance! If you're someone who wants to build up other women, talk about Disney movies, or just want some fun new faces to follow, it's definitely for you
